Opera introduces the looks and the performance of an exceptional Web browser. Opera’s user interface has received a major overhaul with the new start-up dialog, and new default buttons, skin and panels in a blue and white color scheme that can be changed back to classic Opera look or another design. At start-up you can select a single or multiple document interface (SDI/MDI). Opera’s new looks are complemented with exciting features such as the Personal Bar and Pagebar, hotclick, improved window handling, bookmarks search, redesigned preferences, new shortcuts, extensive drag and drop, and support for Unicode and LiveConnect.

  • Added “Check for new release” to Help menu

  • Changed default start-up setting to “Continue from last time”

  • Trying out on-line help files using Operator Cache, which leaves all previously visited help files in local storage

  • Improved notification pop-ups for downloads and messages

  • Inline find checkbox added to Search preferences (was found in Edit menu pre-7.60)

  • Simplification of “Delete private data” dialog

  • “Frame” and “Background” sub-menus are now only visible in document context menus if the document actually contains frames or has a background

  • Made Ctrl E work correctly in Notes and Bookmarks panel

  • Bookmark page now defaults to opening on top level unless a specific folder is selected from the menu, or from right-click in panel

  • Add link to active bookmarks folder is now Ctrl Shift T

  • Skin menu cleaned up and added to the View menu below Toolbars

  • If setting is “always maximize”, this is now also applied to pop-ups too large for the workspace

  • Enhancements to search in server manager dialog

  • Focus fix when double-clicking an empty page to go to the home page

  • Removed Internet suite/Browser only selection from start-up procedure and made messaging client integration dynamic
  • Added a choice between Prefer pages inside window (tabs), Separate windows (SDI), and Advanced MDI in Preferences > Windows
  • The Start bar for blank pages now drops down from the URL field
  • Favicons for bookmarks work again
  • Notification tooltips will now appear where the System tray is, usually in the bottom right of the screen
  • Fixed a problem preventing toolbars from being enabled if their placement had been set to off
  • Fixed a crash that occurred when opening a new window if the Page bar placement wasn’t set to top
  • Added Ctrl F12 and Shift F12 as keyboard shortcuts for the Preferences and Customize dialogs, respectively
