XdN Tweaker 0.8.8.2

Wednesday, May 21st, 2008

XdN Tweaker is a free tweaking program for Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Windows Vista. It sets itself apart from the other tweak programs though by not being filled with options, settings, and "tweaks" that are actually normal options and menu settings of other programs. It tries to fill the gaps that other tweak programs overlook. Instead of just being another way of doing something you could do yourself just by clicking on "options" or "settings" in Windows, it offers features that Windows normally wouldn't allow you to do without digging into the system registry. Depending on if you run the program under Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, or Windows Vista, different options will be available to you (works with 32-bit and 64-bit Windows).

Features:

* Changes the number of Folder views Windows saves.
* Resets the folder views Windows has saved.
* Add/Remove classic Windows 2000 user control panel icon.
* Disable/Enable ATI Catalyst Control Center right click on Desktop (only for use if you have an ATI video card and have the Catalyst Control Center installed).
* Disable/Enable ‘SendTo’ right-click menu.
* Allows you to adjust and tweak TCP/IP settings.
* Disable/Enable ZipFolders.
* Disable/Enable the Outlook Express/Windows Mail splash screen.
* Put the File menu above the Back/Forward buttons in IE7.
* Remove or Replace the Search box in IE7.

* Disable/Enable User Account Control prompts under Vista.
* Disable/Enable the “- Shortcut” text under Vista.
* Attempt to force Vista to better save folder views.
* Disable/Enable Windows Media Player Explorer context menus.
* Add/Remove “Take Ownership” to right-click menus under Vista.
* Disable/Enable the Documents item on the Classic Start Menu.
* Changes “Delete” to “Search…” on Recycle Bin.
* Turn off the annoying full screen “black” UAC prompt.
* Enable Classic Search in Explorer and Internet Explorer.
* Disable/Enable Shutdown Reason dialog under Server 2003.
* Disable/Enable Windows scanning AVI files for thumbnails.
* Remove/Restore hidden ASPNET user that prevents auto login.
* Add “Tweak UI” icon to Control Panel (if installed).

- updated images
- updated About page
- Start Menu delay tries to remember settings
- File Association page updated to work like stand-alone version
- Debug interface updated

IsoBuster 1.9.1 Beta

Saturday, May 17th, 2008

IsoBuster lets you explore a CD’s File System while by-passing Windows. It is a CD/DVD and (Disk)Image File data recovery tool that can read and extract files, tracks and sessions from CD-i, VCD, SVCD, CD-ROM, CD-ROM XA, DVD, DVCD and others. It also supports the following image file formats: *.DAO, *.TAO, *.ISO, *.BIN, *.IMG, *.CIF, *.FCD, *.NRG, *.GCD, *.P01, *.C2D, *.CUE, *.CD and *.GI. It uses several retry-mechanisms to aid you in getting the data, even if Windows is not able to do so. Additional features include Mpg (*.dat) Extraction, support for file system properties, CDText support and much more. The vast majority of the features available are free, however some advanced features like UDF support are only available in a registered version.Latest Changes:

  • IsoBuster splash screen, which will stick until the main window is loaded, which can take a while sometimes when a drive is just mounting a ‘difficult’ disc and is not responding to commands immediately
  • IsoBuster theme in About box
  • Various icon improvements
  • Added option to the GUI (in Options) for administrators to grant low level access to storage devices for other users on the system
  • An object selection is now also available and accessible via the Main Window (File / Selected Object(s))
  • Multi-language support in the installer itself
  • Shift F10 and context menu (between Alt Gr and Ctrl on the right) button click implemented
  • *.NCD (or subsets of *.NCD) image file support
  • The multi-extent icon next to a file or folder is *not* shown anymore by default, after a fresh install, to avoid confusion, set it in the options if required
  • Updated some of the auto recognizing features for Movie DVDs
  • Changed the more-sessions-in-one-track interpreter to also be able to deal with Nero Cmd made discs (they don’t have the typical Nero signature)
  • Work-around for a particular drive problem (DL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8163B, or possibly a generation of drives) which caused DVD( R/W) media not to be mounted OK
  • Improvement to match IBP/IBQ managed image files to actual CDs in certain drives better, has to do with reserved tracks
  • Load read-only (write protect) IBP/IBQ files but put up a dialog warning for the user and allow him/her to unload the image again
  • Addded a dialog for when the IsoBuster.exe has been changed, to warn the user that there might be a virus on the system
  • Filter and replace illegal characters in file names before extraction for all file-systems, not just only for HFS
  • Various internal improvements, staying up to date with drive evolutions
  • Fixed some minor GUI related issues
  • Fixed a rare situation where IB could run into an exception error when there is NO file-system layout on the disc

  • Fixed that some files, extracted via the Mac HFS file system, were 2KB too large

Mozilla beta 1.4 and 1.3.1

Sunday, May 11th, 2008

Mozilla is an open-source Web browser, designed for standards compliance, performance and portability. Mozilla is a cousin to Netscape Communicator that is being developed by the Free Software Community with the cooperation and support of Netscape.

What’s New in Mozilla 1.3.1:

- Mozilla Mail has junk-mail classification. With some initial “training”

the client can identify and segregate spam messages from good messages.

- Newsgroup filters have been implemented.

- An initial implementation of Mozilla Midas, rich text editing controls, has

landed in Mozilla for 1.3.1.

- Image auto sizing allows a user to toggle between full-sized images and images

sized to fit the browser window. To give it a try, load a large image into the

browser window or size the window to be much smaller. Now clicking on the image

will alternate between auto-sized and full-sized. The feature can be disabled

(or enabled) from the Appearance panel in Preferences.

- Users can now “dynamically” switch profiles. To give it a try, from

the tools menu select “Switch Profile…”

- Find as you type, formerly known as type ahead find, has a new preferences

panel (Advanced: Keyboard Navigation).

- When installed, Chatzilla now has a normal Mozilla preferences panel.

- Mozilla 1.3.1 also includes fixes for performance, standards compliance and

site compatibility.

- Mozilla has a new splash screen. We already know. Please don’t report this

to Bugzilla. Thanks.

- The RPMS for Red Hat 8.x are compiled with GCC 3.2

Tired of that Luna Theme that that comes with Windows Media Player when you minimize it? Well Need not to worry no More! There is a resolution now available for you to be able to change your skins on Windows Media Player 9 IN the Taskbar!!!Tired of that Luna Theme that that comes with Windows Media Player when you minimize it? Well Have we got a solution for you! Josh of wmpt.tech-critic.com made a little program called WMPT which stands for Windows Media Player Taskbar. What it does is that it replaces that standard theme that comes with windows media player 9 when you minimize it! The standard theme which is not something that everyone likes and would really like to replace it but do not know how to or just simply too hard well try this out. It is very easily changed and skinned. It is user friendly and I could keep on going on for hours complimenting this awesome piece of software.

The Software comes in many flavours for all of us internet users. We were considerate

for all the dial-up users that like to install these great pieces of softwares

but just cannot because the internet is holding back! Well Don’t Sweat! We arent

Microsoft that is just going to make one setup for all people. It comes for people

that have Broadband which is about 8 mb big and for us Dial Up People it comes

in a “lite” version which is 4mb. No there is nothing missing the lite

version! It still has the great qualities of the full version just some little

features that arent really important are taken out!

Here is Quote from the author and what he would like to say to all the users

and future users of wmpt.
